Alex McCarthy, a 16-year-old from California, had his Visual Bucket List wish granted in the summer of 2025. Alex suffers from Usher Syndrome, a genetic disorder that causes progressive vision and hearing loss. Alex, along with his mom, dad, and brother, enjoyed an unforgettable adventure in New York City. Their journey began with a private tour of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, where they learned about the rich history of immigration and stood in awe beneath Lady Liberty herself. As night fell, they hopped aboard a nighttime bus tour and were mesmerized by the city’s sparkling skyline, iconic landmarks, and the electric energy that only New York can offer. The highlight of their trip came when they attended a performance of The Lion King on Broadway—an experience that truly swept them away with its vibrant costumes, stunning set design, and powerful music. It was a magical and memorable experience for the whole family!
